Abstract

This master's thesis "The Representation of Womenhood in Marek Eben's Commentary in the Show StarDance" analyzes the ways in which Marek Eben refers to and talks about women in his public performances on the show. It aims to explore the discourse his remarks construct about women and to examine the image of femininity that they reproduce. The theoretical part defines the key concepts related to gender issues. Drawing on academic literature, it explains terms such as gender, gender stereotyping, objectification, and sexual objectification. It also introduces the subject of analysis - the television show StarDance and its host Marek Eben - including the criticism directed at both the show and its presenter. Additionally, the theoretical framework includes a section on rhetoric and television hosting, as these are closely related to the role Marek Eben plays in the program. The methodological part presents the chosen research method - discourse analysis based on Norman Fairclough's framework. It also defines the research sample and outlines the research questions and projections. Magisterská diplomová práce Reprezentace ženství v projevech Marka Ebena v pořadu StarDance analyzuje, jakým způsobem se Marek Eben ve svých výstupech vyjadřuje o ženách. Cílem práce je prozkoumat, jaký diskurz směrem k ženám jeho výroky vytvářejí a jaký obraz ženství tím reprodukuje. Teoretická část vymezuje základní pojmy spjaté s genderovou problematikou. Na základě odborné literatury vysvětluje pojmy jako gender, genderová stereotypizace, objektivizace a sexuální objektivizace. Dále představuje předmět zkoumání, pořad StarDance...když hvězdy tančí, osobu moderátora Marka Ebena a to včetně kritiky, která se k němu i pořadu váže. Teoretická část je doplněna o kapitolu věnovanou rétorice a televizní moderaci, která se pojí s pozicí, kterou Marek Eben v pořadu zastává. Metodologická část se věnuje představení použité výzkumné metody, tedy diskurzivní analýzy Normana Fairclougha. Zároveň definuje výzkumný vzorek a formuluje výzkumné otázky včetně předpokladů. Empirická část se již věnuje samotným výrokům Marka Ebena, které jsou analyzovány na základě teoretického rámce. V závěru práce jsou zodpovězeny výzkumné otázky a interpretovány výsledky praktické části.
