insurance protection gap, climate change, natural catastrophes, panel regressionInternal Tato diplomová práce zkoumá vztah mezi změnou klimatu a pojistně ochrannou mezerou. S rostoucí frekvencí a intenzitou přírodních katastrof souvisejících s klimatem je schopnost pojistných trhů poskytovat adekvátní krytí rizik čím dál více ohrožena, což vyvolává obavy o finanční stabilitu a ekonomickou odolnost.
Internal This thesis investigates the relationship between climate change and the insurance protection gap. As climate-related disasters increase in frequency and severity, the ability of insurance markets to provide adequate risk coverage is increasingly challenged, raising concerns about financial stability and economic resilience. The research aims to identify the key climate change-related drivers of the insurance protection gap in the context of natural catastrophe events. Using a panel data framework and regression techniques, the study analyzes regional and temporal trends in insurance protection gaps, incorporating both control and climate-linked variables. The research seeks to determine whether a link exists between the dynamics of the insurance protection gap and climate change, as well as its relationship with the maturity of the financial sector. The expected contribution includes a better understanding of how climate dynamics affect insurance markets, offering valuable insights for policymakers and insurers in designing effective risk-transfer mechanisms and pricing strategies. This work aspires to support climate adaptation efforts by informing decisions that enhance financial preparedness for future climate-related losses.
