Cesta ke vzniku dominia Kanada: Příspěvek k dějinám britsko-kanadských vztahů v letech 1864-1867

Abstract

This thesis is focused on the analysis of the process, which led to the adoption of the British North America Act and the formation of the Dominion of Canada. First it outlined the political, economic and cultural situation in pre-confederation Canada and the origin of the concept of confederation. The thesis deals with the role of the London government and attitudes of particular provinces. It also pays closer attention to crucial negotiations, mainly the Charlottetown Conference and the Quebec Conference in 1864 and the London Conference of 1866.

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na analýzu procesu, který vedl k přijetí Zákona o Britské Severní Americe a vzniku Kanadského dominia. Nejprve nastiňuje politickou, hospodářskou a kulturní situaci v před-konfederační Kanadě a původ koncepce konfederace. Práce se zabývá rolí londýnské vlády a postoji jednotlivých provincií. Dále se blíže věnuje pozornost klíčovým jednáním, především konferenci v Charlottetownu a Quebecu roku 1864 a londýnské konferenci roku 1866.
