Bosnia - Kosovo - NATO - UN - ethnic conflict - new warsBakalářská práce se zaměřuje na roli mezinárodních organizacích v tzv. nových válkách. Prostřednictvím dvou konfliktů devadesátých let 20. století se soustředí na otázku, jak mezinárodní společenství přistupovalo k etnickým konfliktům, na rozdílnost přístupu i příčiny této změny, závislost na předchozí aktivitě a "učení se" z ní. Nejprve je představen koncept nových válek v návaznosti na práci Mary Kaldor. V reflexi odborné diskuse se práce zaměřuje na otázku, zda lze etnické konflikty v bývalé Jugoslávii produktivně analyzovat s využitím tohoto konceptu. Následně je vypracována případová studie toho, jak v obou sledovaných případech přistupovaly ke konfliktním situacím OSN a NATO a také jejich vzájemný vztah, zejména přístup NATO k legitimizačním možnostem OSN.
This bachelor thesis is focused on the role of international organizations in the new wars. Through the two conflicts of the nineties of 20th century it is focused on the question how the international community approached to the ethnic conflicts, on the disparity in approach and reasons for this change, the dependence on previous activity and "learning" out of it. First it is introduced the concept of new wars following the work of Mary Kaldor. In reflection of professional discussion the work focuses on the question whether ethnic conflicts in the former Yugoslavia can be productively analyzed by using this concept. Subsequently, the case study is drawn up. It is focused on how the UN and NATO approached to the conflict situations in both cases and also on the relation between these two organizations, especially attitude of NATO towards legitimizing options of the UN.
