Kelti jdou! Diskurzivní a sociální praxe keltománie v českých zemích v 90. letech

Abstract

In my thesis I'm dealing with the phenomenon of "celtomania" in the Czech Republic in the ninetees. The main object of this study are discoursive, performative and other social practices that used and contributed to the image of the Celts. In the post-socialist transformation process of the czech society the commemoration of the Celts helped individuals to draw a line between the present and the past and articulate a vision of desired future. This symbolic manipulation supported the image of the Celts as the essence of good. The thesis closes with a brief account about the possibility that the access to the "celtic" symbolic capital is a key factor for understanding the smooth reception of the phenomenon in the czech socio-cultural sphere and also it's relatively sudden decline.

Tato práce pojednává o fenoménu společensky relevantní aktualizace tématu Keltů v českých zemí v průběhu devadesátých let, pro něž se vžil název "keltománie". Hlavním předmětem zájmu jsou diskurzivní, performativní a další společenské praxe, při nichž byli Keltové připomínáni a které utvářely jejich podobu. Ukazuje se, že v procesu postsocialisticé transformace české společnosti plnila keltská symbolika roli ideologie, jak ji chápe Clifford Geertz - jejím prostřednictvím doboví aktéři uchopovali svoji minulost, přítomnost i vysněnou budoucnost, čímž Kelty přetvářeli v jakousi esenci dobra. Na konci práce se zamýšlím nad tím, zda právě specifický přístup k symbolickému kapitálu Keltů nevysvětluje jak velký úspěch keltománie v českých zemích, tak relativně rychlý ústup tohoto fenoménu.
