Podoby bukolické poezie v římské literatuře pozdní antiky: Endelechius a Pomponius

Abstract

The thesis examines two Late Antique Latin poems and their relationship to the bucolic tradition, especially to Vergil's Eclogues. Pomponius' Versus ad gratiam Domini and Endelechius' De mortibus boum are studied as exemplary cases of two different approaches to the Christian reception of Vergil at the turn of the 4th and 5th centuries. The study traces the generic characteristics of bucolic poetry and its reinterpretation within cento poetry. Based on an analysis of compositional and stylistic devices, it seeks to gain a deeper understanding of this branch of the literary context of Late Antiquity.

Diplomová práce se zabývá dvěma pozdněantickými latinskými básněmi a jejich vztahem k bukolické tradici, zejména k Vergiliovým Eklogám. Pomponiovo Versus ad gratiam Domini a Endelechiovo De mortibus boum jsou zkoumány jako modelové příklady dvou různých přístupů ke křesťanské recepci Vergilia na přelomu 4. a 5. století. Studie sleduje žánrové charakteristiky bukolické poezie a její reinterpretaci v rámci centonové poezie. Na základě analýzy kompozičních a stylistických prostředků se snaží hlouběji porozumět tomuto odvětví literárního kontexu pozdní antiky.
