Role Goethe Institutu v německé zahraniční politice po roce 1990

Abstract

This thesis focuses on programme strategy of Goethe-Institute in the broader frame of German foreign policy between 1990-2020. The theoretical part examines Goethe-Institute though the scope of soft power, public and cultural diplomacy. The development and the change of priorities of the Goethe-Institute are also outlined. Additionally, the independence of the Goethe-Institute from the German government is taken to account. A case study of the Goethe- Institute in Prague then proves a shift in priorities of the institute from bilateral Czech-German agenda to European topics. This shift is shown on specific examples of events held between the year 1991 and 2020.

Tato práce se věnuje programové činnosti Goethe-Institutu v širším rámci německé zahraniční politiky mezi lety 1990-2020. Teoretická část se věnuje Goethe-Institutu z hlediska soft power, veřejné a kulturní diplomacie. Dále je nastíněn vývoj Goethe-institutu ve zkoumaném období a změna jeho priorit. Analyzována je také nezávislost Goethe-Institutu na německé vládě. Na případové studii pražského Goethe-Institutu je následně demonstrován posun v prioritách této instituce od bilaterálních k celoevropským tématům. Tento posun je představen na konkrétních akcích pořádaných pražským Goethe-Institutem od jeho založení roce 1991 až po rok 2020.
