Vývoj pozice Labouristické strany k Brexitu

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá postojem britské opoziční Labouristické strany k Brexitu. Práce zkoumá vývoj tohoto postoje od referenda o členství Spojeného království v Evropské unii v roce 2016 do prosincových voleb v roce 2019 a zaměřuje se na důvody ambivalentního postoje Labouristické strany k této problematice. Hlavním předmětem zkoumání je to, jaký vliv má na tento postoj nejednotnost elektorátu Labouristické strany a britský jednokolový většinový volební systém. První část práce se zabývá volebními systémy a jejich vlivem na stranické systémy a politické strany jako takové. Druhá část zkoumá historický vývoj pohledu Labouristické strany vůči evropské integraci. Cílem této části je poukázat na fakt, že Labouristická strana měla historicky ambivalentní a proměnlivý postoj k evropské integraci a její rozpolcenost vůči tomuto tématu tedy není novým jevem. Třetí část přibližuje samotný vývoj pozice Labouristické strany po referendu z roku 2016 a ukazuje, jak se pohled strany vůči Brexitu měnil, jak se strana s touto situací pokoušela vyrovnat a do jakých konfliktů se členové strany dostali. Závěrečná kapitola se zabývá důvody počínání členů Labouristické strany, kteří v parlamentních hlasováních týkajících se Brexitu hlasovali v rozporu s oficiální stranickou linií. This bachelor thesis deals with the attitude of the British opposition Labour Party towards Brexit. The thesis explores the development of this attitude since the 2016 United Kingdom European Union membership referendum until the 2019 United Kingdom general election and focuses on the reasons for Labour Party's ambivalent stance towards this issue. The main subject of this thesis is the influence of the division of the Labour Party's electorate and the British one-round plurality electoral system on this attitude. The first part of the thesis deals with electoral systems and their influence on party systems and political parties. The second part examines the historical development of Labour Party's stance towards European integration. The goal of this part is to show that the Labour Party had always had an ambivalent and changing view on European integration and that its disunity on this issue is not a new phenomenon. The third part examines the development of Labour Party's position after the 2016 referendum and shows, how the view of the party changed, how the party tried to deal with this issue and what conflicts the party members experienced.
