The morphologicalcharactersaloneareoftennot sufficientfor speciesde- lirnitation,thoughtheycan be usedfor routinespeciesidentificationModern rnorphologicalapproacheslike confocalmicroscopyallow to detectclearmor- phologicaldifferencesarnonginvestigatedcloselyrelatedspecies,evenifat first sightthesemorphologicallyvery uniformalgaehardlydifferatthe morphologi- cal level.
