Komentovaný překlad: úryvek z knihy STARKEY, David, Magna Carta: The True Story Behind the Charter. Hodder & Stoughton General Division: London, 2015.

Abstract

Cílem této bakalářské práce je překlad předmluvy a čtyř prvních kapitol z publikace Magna Carta, The True Story Behind the Charter vydané britským historikem Davidem Starkeym v roce 2015, a to k příležitosti osmistého výročí historické listiny známé jako Velká listina práv a svobod (Magna Carta). První část práce obsahuje samotný překlad. V druhé části následuje analytický komentář, který se věnuje specifickým jevům a faktorům, které měly na výsledný překlad vliv. Komentář se soustředí na překladatelskou analýzu originálu, překladatelské problémy a postupy, které byly při překladu aplikovány, a překladatelské posuny. Analýza se opírá i o příklady vybraných problémů a jejich řešení. V závěru práce je shrnut zvolený překladatelský postup. The aim of this bachelor's thesis is to offer a translation of the preface and the first four chapters of the book Magna Carta, The True Story Behind the Charter, written in 2015 by the British historian David Starkey, who dedicated this work to the 800th anniversary of the historical document known as The Great Charter of Liberties (Magna Carta). The thesis consists of two parts. The first is the actual translation. The second part concentrates on the translation's commentary, describing the specific aspects that have influenced it. The commentary consists of an analysis of the original text, of the typology of translation problems, and the translation strategies and shifts used in the rendition. The analysis refers to selected problematic passages and demonstrates how they have been tackled. In conclusion, the thesis summarizes the overall translation method.
