Kam s populárními romány Michala Viewegha?

Abstract

Diplomová práce se zabývá dílem Michala Viewegha z pohledu funkčního a hodnotového členění literární produkce. Snaží se dokázat, že u nás zažitý bipolární model v jeho případě nefunguje, neboť jej nelze přiřadit nejen k umělecké literatuře, ale ani k literatuře populární, oproti níž je autorem příliš sofistikovaným. Navrhuje proto oživit pozapomenutý trojvrstvý model a pokusit se situovat Vieweghovo dílo do něho. Autorka přitom, na rozdíl od literární kritiky, zastává názor, že jednotlivé Vieweghovy romány se od sebe podstatně neliší. Dokládá to srovnávací analýzou kladně a záporně hodnocených románů, vyúsťující ve zjištění, že obě skupiny navzdory rozdílnému kritickému posouzení obsahují stejné konstitutivní rysy a že jsou to typické rysy střední literární roviny/midcultu, Tento závěr je dále prověřen porovnáním vybraných Vieweghových děl s prózami typických autorů nízké (Lanczová) a vysoké (Kundera) literární roviny, a to prostřednictvím jejich práce s milostnou tematikou. Výsledek potvrzuje správnost situování Vieweghových próz do střední literární roviny: milostnou tematiku zpracovává sofistikovaněji a mnohostranněji než Lanczová, avšak povrchněji a s větším důrazem na čtenářskou atraktivnost než Kundera.

This diploma thesis deals with the work of Michal Viewegh from the point of view of functional and value division of literary production. It tries to prove that bipolar model, established in Czech environment, in his case does not work, since it cannot be assigned not only to highbrow literature, nor to popular literature, because the work of Viewegh is in comparison with them too sophisticated. Therefore the author proposes to revive forgotten trichotomic model of literary classification and use it for situation Viewegh's work. The author, contrary to literary criticism, is of the opinion that every single Viewegh's novel does not substantially differentiate from each other. The author supports this argument using comparative analysis of positively and negatively evaluated novels, resulting into finding that both groups despite of differences in critical assessment contain the same constitutive characteristics that are typical for midcult. This conclusion is further investigated by comparison of selected Viewegh's works with prose works of typical writers, typically low (Lanczová) and high (Kundera) literary level, through their work with love theme.
