Mediální reprezentace konstrukce genderových rolí v totální instituci na příkladu seriálu Orange Is the New Black

Abstract

Diplomová práce Mediální reprezentace konstrukce genderových rolí v totální instituci na příkladu seriálu Orange Is the New Black je obsahovým výzkumem s využitím kvalitativních metod, který analyzuje a popisuje využití feminních a maskulinních genderových rolí v prostředí vězení pro ženy. Práce je rozčleněna do tří částí. V první části jsem popsala teorii, která je zásadní pro správné pochopení a přiblížení tématu. Zabývám se zde historií a teorií totální instituce, věznění a vězení. Důraz také kladu na gender, teorie sociální a mediální konstrukce reality a genderovanost mediálních obsahů. V druhé, metodologické části práce jsem charakterizovala vzorek výzkumu i výzkumnou metodu. Vytyčila jsem si zde také tematické analytické kategorie, hlavní a vedlejší výzkumné otázky a nakonec také cíle celého výzkumu. Ve svém výzkumu vycházím z etnografického výzkumu ženské věznice socioložky Kateřiny Nedbálkové. Její analýza mi pomohla ve stanovení analytických kategorií, dle nichž jsem rozčlenila vlastní výzkum. Analyzovala jsem cíleně vybraná data a na základě těchto poznatků jsem z nich vyvodila příslušné závěry, zodpověděla jsem své výzkumné otázky a zhodnotila dříve stanovené cíle.

The diploma thesis Media representation of the construction of gender roles in a total institution on the example of Orange Is the New Black series is a content research with application of qualitative methods, which analyses and describes the use of feminine and masculine gender roles in a women's prison. The thesis is divided into three parts. In the first part I described the theory, which is essential for understanding the topic. Here I looked into the history and theory of total institutions, prisons and imprisonment. I also put and emphasis on gender, theories of social and media construction of reality and gendered media content. In the second, methodological part I characterized the analysis sample and the research method. I also defined thematic categories, research questions and objectives of the research. The research is based on the ethnographic research of Kateřina Nedbálková. With the help of her analysis I defined the analytical categories, into which I divided the research. I analyzed selected data and from those I deduced relevant conclusions, I answered my research questions and evaluated the given objectives.
