Komentovaný překlad vybraných básní S. T. Coleridge

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá překladem a překladatelskou analýzou básní Dejection: An Ode, The Nightingale, Frost at Midnight a Love anglického romantického básníka Samuela Taylora Coleridge. Překladatelská analýza vychází především z mého vlastního překladu a dále z překladů Václava Renče (1. vydání roku 1965) a Zdeňka Hrona (1999). Práce je rozdělena na tři části. První z nich se zabývá porozuměním výchozímu textu a filologickými problémy, které jej mohou ztížit nebo mu zabránit. Dále jsou zde popsány významové rozdíly mezi jednotlivými překlady, které vznikaly jednak z důvodu odlišné interpretace jednotlivých překladatelů, a jednak v důsledku volby neadekvátních českých ekvivalentů. V druhé části je předložena interpretace básní, která z velké části vychází z Coleridgova pojetí obraznosti (Imagination) a fantazie (Fancy), jak jej on sám vysvětluje ve svém díle Biographia Literaria. Třetí část pojednává o problémech, které vyvstaly při snaze dané básně vhodně přestylizovat do češtiny. Zvláštní důraz je zde kladen na problematiku českého jambického verše. Je zde předložen stručný historický přehled jeho použití a naznačeny nejdůležitější překladatelské strategie, tedy využití daktylských incipitů a ženského zakončení. The aim of the thesis is to present a new translation and a translatological analysis of four selected poems by the English Romantic poet Samuel Taylore Coleridge, i.e. Dejection: An Ode, The Nightingale, Frost at Midnight, and Love. The analysis is based on the presented translation and on the previous translations of the same texts by Václav Renč (first published in 1965) and Zdeněk Hron (published in 1999). The thesis is divided into the translation and three following parts. The first part covers the understanding of the texts and the philological problems that might impede it. There is also a description of semantic differences between individual translations. These differences originate in diverse interpretations of the texts by their translators and in inadequate choices of Czech equivalents. The second part consists of my own interpretation of the poems which is based on Coleridge's concept of Imagination and Fancy described in his Biographia Literaria. The third part deals with the problems that arouse from the attempt to translate the poems into Czech, which is mainly the matter of Czech iambic verse.
