Abstract

The usage of the rubber dam in restorative dentistry and endodontics - abstract MUDr. Martin Kapitán Good isolation of the working field is a condition for high quality, safe, efficient and successful work in restorative dentistry and endodontics. The use of rubber dam is considered as a standard of care in the isolation of working field. Rubber dam is a rubber membrane with holes around the crowns of isolated teeth. It separates the working field from the other parts of the oral cavity. Rubber dam protects the patients from injuries and aspiration or ingestion of small foreign bodies. It enables suction of all cooling water, preparation debris and all agents used during the treatment. It steadily provides clear access and overview of the operation field. It protects the working field from saliva contamination. It plays an important role in infection control. In spite of repetitive recommendations of dentistry authorities the use of rubber dam is not widespread, even though the most frequent arguments of dental practitioners against rubber dam have been disproved in many studies. Používání kofferdamu v záchovném zubním lékařství a endodoncii - abstrakt MUDr. Martin Kapitán Dobrá izolace pracovního pole je v záchovném zubním lékařství a endodoncii podmínkou pro kvalitní, bezpečnou, efektivní a dlouhodobě úspěšnou práci. Za standard v izolaci pracovního pole je v současné době považováno použití kofferdamu. Kofferdam je pružná blána s otvory navléknutá kolem korunek jednotlivých izolovaných zubů. Kofferdam odděluje pracovní pole od ostatních částí dutiny ústní pacienta. Chrání pacienta před poraněním a před polknutím či vdechnutím drobných cizích těles. Umožňuje odsávání veškeré chladicí tekutiny, preparační drti a všech prostředků používaných při ošetření. Lékaři zajišťuje stabilně přehledné a přístupné pracovní pole a brání kontaminaci pracovního pole slinou. Uplatňuje se také v prevenci přenosu původců infekčních chorob. Přes opakovaná doporučení odborných autorit je používání kofferdamu mezi zubními lékaři málo rozšířené, přestože mnohé studie již vyvrátily nejčastěji uváděné argumenty zubních lékařů proti používání kofferdamu.
