Plány a projekty pro malostranský břeh v první polovině 20. století

Abstract

Práce popisuje architektonické a urbanistické projekty - realizované i nerealizované - pro pražský malostranský břeh v období od konce 19. století do začátku II. světové války. Cílem této práce bylo projekty popsat a analyzovat, nikoliv je interpretovat teoreticky. Čtenářovi je tak umožněno sledovat rozdílné přístupy architektů, jak se přizpůsobili nebo se nepřizpůsobili historickému prostředí Malé Strany, která patří k nejstarším a nejkrásnějším urbanistickým celkům na světě. V jejích ulicích, domech a krásných detailech se zračí talent a dovednost českých a zahraničních řemeslníků a umělců, kteří si byli vždy vědomi výjimečné krásy této čtvrti na úpatí Pražského hradu. Ve všech historických epochách si Malá Strana udržela svůj původní středověký ráz. Přesto každá z epoch zanechala na ní své stopy a ani námi sledované období nebude v tomto ohledu výjimkou.

This thesis describes architectural and urban projects - both realized and unrealized - for the Lesser Town bank in the period from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the World War Two. The primary point of our work is the description and the analysis of the projects, not theoretical interpretation. The reader is thus able to follow the differnet attituteds of the architects and find out how much they incorporated their projects into the historical character of the Lesser Town, which is one of the oldest and the most magnificent urban area in the world. In its streets, buildings and the beauty of detail are displayed talent and skills of home and foreing craftsmen and artists, who had always succeeded in identifying themselves with the historical character of this part of the city at the foot of Prague Castle. The Lesser Town has preserved its medieval character in every historical epoch. Nevertheless each of them has imprinted its marks on this part of the city and neither our period is the exception.
