Postava Velnse v lotyšském folkloru

Abstract

Práce se zaměřuje na Velnse jakožto postavu lotyšského folkloru, neopomíjí však ani Velnsovy kořeny v souvztažnosti k příbuzným mytologickým rámcům stejně jako nastínění jeho aktivní působnosti na poli literatury. Za pomoci Aarne-Thompsonova pohádkového indexu jsou vymezeny syžety, v nichž Velns vystupuje, a v souvislosti s místem výskytu je provedena typologizace zkoumané postavy. Po doplnění o další charakterové vlastnosti je postava Velnse umístěna do balto-slovanského kontextu a v každém z pojednaných prostředí jsou vybrány vhodné ekvivalenty. Na základě těchto ekvivalentů se vytváří celistvý obraz a jsou zkoumány varianty přiblížení k prostředí českému, kde byly nalezeny dva potenciální ekvivalenty - prvním je český čert, druhým by pak byl v některých případech možný, ač zřejmě méně častý vodník.

The thesis focuses on Velns as a character of the Latvian folklore not omitting the origin of Velns related to cognate mythological frameworks as well as providing an outline of Velns' active role in the literature. The plots where Velns appears are specified using the Aarne-Thompson's tale type index and, according to the place of its occurrence, the examined character is classified into types. After addition of other attributes, Velns is situated into Balto-Slavic context and the appropriate equivalents of each discussed environment are selected. On the basis of these equivalents, a complete image is created and possible similarities are examined within the Czech environment, where two potencial equivalents are found - the first one being the Czech čert (devil) and the second one, appearing less often, vodník (water goblin).
