Abstract

This bachelor thesis consists of two parts - translation and a commentary on said translation. We chose two chapters from Timothy Hickson's book On Writing and Worldbuilding: Volume I (2019) - Foreshadowing and Polytheistic religions. The author uses excerpts from famous works of fantastical literature to illustrate his points. The commentary includes text analysis, a description of translation method, and an overview of translation problems and their solutions. Tato práce se zabývá překladem a překladatelským komentářem dvou vybraných kapitol z publikace On Writing and Worldbuilding: Volume I (2019). Autorem je Timothy Hickson. První z kapitol se věnuje předjímání, jeho druhům a jejich využití, druhá tvorbě polyteistických náboženství a jejich zákonitostmi. Autor ilustruje svůj výklad na příkladech známých děl světové fantastiky. Následuje překladatelský komentář skládající se ze dvou částí: analýzy výchozího textu a přehledu překladatelských problémů a jejich řešení.
