Percepce americké občanské války v dnešní americké společnosti

Abstract

V bakalářské práci bude zkoumán jeden z aspektů vnímání občanské války v dnešních jižních státech Ameriky. Pomocí příkladů několika odstraněných konfederačních soch bude přiblížena doba, ve které byly postaveny, ale také jejich současný dopad na kulturní a sociální prostředí Spojených států amerických. S pomocí odborné literatury, novinových článků amerických médií a průzkumů veřejného mínění bude zkoumáno, jakým způsobem dochází k odstraňování a ničení soch a jaký je všeobecný názor veřejnosti na jejich přítomnost i jejich ničení. The bachelor's thesis will examine one of the aspects of the perception of the Civil War in today's southern American states. The examples of several removed Confederate statues will show the time in which they were built, but also their current impact on the cultural and social environment of the United States. With the help of professional literature, newspaper articles in the American media and opinion polls, it will be examined how the statues are removed and destroyed and what is the general public opinion about their presence and their destruction.
