Genderová analýza postavení žen v Iráku - vliv současného konfliktu na život iráckých žen

Abstract

My diploma thesis is focused on the impact of the current Iraqi conflict on the status of Iraqi women. With the aid of a comparative method, this diploma thesis tries to compare and contrast the situation of women during the period of Baath regime, with conditions after the US led invasion. First of all there is discussed a position of feminism within the field of the International Relations and also a general impact of violent conflicts and wars on the situation of women. One chapter is devoted to the status of women prior the Baath regime seized the power. The crucial parts of diploma thesis are consisted of two chapters including several sub-chapters. First of them describes the role of women during the rule of Baath regime and Saddam Hussein, second one deals with the situation of women in current Iraq. There is also one chapter which is focused on the situation of Kurdish women in the northern part of this country. The main question of this diploma thesis is if the status of Iraqi women has improved or deteriorated since the beginning of the last war.

Ve své diplomové práci bych se chtěla věnovat tomu, jak válečné konflikty působí na postavení žen, jak ovlivňují jejich každodenní život a jakým specifickým problémům musí ženy během válek čelit. Každý den se dozvídáme ze stránek novin či z různých zpravodajství o tom, jak závažná je současná situace na Blízkém východě. Konflikt v Iráku, který začal v roce 2003, poznamenal životy tisíců lidí - vojáků i civilistů, mužů i žen. Ve své diplomové práci bych se chtěla zaměřit na to, jaký má tento konflikt dopad na každodenní život iráckých žen. Mým záměrem je porovnat situaci Iráčanek v této zemi před pádem Saddámova režimu se stavem, který nastal po zahájení operace Irácká svoboda v roce 2003. Zaměřím se na to, zda došlo k zlepšení či naopak zhoršení statusu iráckých žen, na to jak ovlivnil válečný konflikt jejich životy.
