La circulation d'un divertissement historique au sein des Expositions européennes : la reconstitution des « vieilles villes » (1890-1900)

Abstract

Klíčová slova: rekonstrukce modelů ̶ zábava ̶ atrakce ̶ velké výstavy ̶ Praha ̶ Budapešť ̶ Paříž Abstrakt: V centru zájmu této práce je prezentace dějin jako zábavy, a to na příkladu rekonstrukce modelů starých měst na velkých univerzálních a národních výstavách konce 19. století. Modely starých měst kombinovaly imperiální, národní a místní rozměry a využívaly několika dynamik. Především, tato forma zábavy pramenila z restrukturalizace západoevropských a středoevropských říší. Přetrvávající odkaz k národní (zde české a maďarské) otázce v imperiálním Rakousko-Uhersku a univerzalistická koloniální expanze Francouzské říše zasáhly i do modelování starých měst a jejich vzdělávací funkce. Imperiální a globální dimenze však přicházely do kontaktu s národním a místním kontextem prostřednictvím propagace místních produktů, ať už architektonických nebo komerčních. Ty pak sloužily místním zájmům. Různé adaptace modelů starých měst tedy zaznamenaly materializaci kolektivních vzpomínek vytvořených tak, aby odpovídaly výzvám rekonstituce říší i jednotlivých národních agend. Tyto časové kapsle, které zakonzervovaly hostitelské město na jedno nebo více století, jsou podobné komerčním atrakcím vytvořeným pro vzdělávací účely. Ve skutečnosti pak nabízely vyprávění o "starých dobrých časech", které ilustrovalo každodenní...

Combining imperial, national and local scales, these 'Old cities' exploit several dynamics. First, these historic entertainments resulted from the restructuring of the Western and Central European empires. Indeed, the permanent injunction of national questions - here Czech and Hungarian - into the Austro-Hungarian empire and the expansion with a universalist aim of the French empire interfered within the construction of the 'Old cities' and their educational vocations. However, these imperial and global dimensions came into reaction with national and local scales due to the promotion of local products - architectural, commercial - serving the cause of the host nation. Thus, the various adaptations of 'Old city' recorded the materialization of collective memories fabricated to correspond to the challenges of the re-composition of empires and national agendas. These time capsules, fixing the past of the host city for one or several centuries, were like commercial attractions with educational purposes....
