Překlad divadelní hry a jeho proměny v inscenačním zpracování v různých společensko-politických prostředích na příkladu hry Smrt obchodního cestujícího v překladu Luby a Rudolfa Pellarových

Abstract

The diploma thesis examines a drama translation and its changes for staging purposes. The thesis strives for interdisciplinarity, for it enriches the theoretical-analytical approaches of translation studies with practical dramaturgy insights of the creators of the stagings. The thesis analyses Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman (1949) as translated by Luba and Rudolf Pellar (1962). Their literary translation is subjected to a translation analysis under Peter Newmark's model of analysing a translation (1988). Subsequently, the thesis examines the types and the extent of the changes in the scripts for stagings used in the Czech National Theatre in 1993-1996, and in the current staging in the Municipal Theatres of Prague (premiere in 2019) while employing their comparison with the Pellars' published translation. Diplomová práce zkoumá proměny překladu divadelní hry v jeho inscenačních podobách. Práce se zasazuje o interdisciplinární přínos, neboť teoreticko-analytické translatologické přístupy obohacuje o praktické dramaturgické vhledy samotných účastníků inscenačního procesu. Práce analyzuje hru Arthura Millera Smrt obchodního cestujícího (1949) v překladu Luby a Rudolfa Pellarových (1962). Translatologickou analýzu provádí podle analyticko- translatologického modelu Petera Newmarka (1988). Předmětem analýzy je knižní překlad, na jehož pozadí dochází k analýze typů a rozsahu změn v inscenačních textech použitých v Národním divadle v sezóně 1993-1996 a v současném nastudování v Městských divadlech pražských (premiéra v roce 2019).
