Vzestup Turecka jako regionální mocnosti

Abstract

The diploma thesis deals with the rise of Turkey as a regional power in the Middle East since the end of the Cold War until the present. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the country's position in the region during the period 1990-2017 and to examine factors that contributed to the growth of Turkey's power. The thoretical framework discusses important concepts and different approaches within the international relations literature to the analysis of regional powers and subsequently defines criteria for assessing whether to consider Turkey as a Middle Eastern power. The study follows chronological evolution of Turkey and its foreign policy, examining the country's material capacities as well as strategies and instruments used by Turkish governments to promote Turkey's influence at the regional level. In view of the growing power potential, ambitions and engagement in the region, the thesis has come to the conclusion that Turkey has achieved the status of one of the regional powers of the Middle East during the 1990s. Diplomová práce se zabývá vzestupem Turecka jako regionální mocnosti Blízkého východu od konce studené války až do současnosti. Cílem práce je ve zkoumaném období 1990 až 2017 analyzovat mocenské postavení země v regionu a objasnit faktory, které přispěly k růstu moci Turecké republiky. V teoretické části práce jsou představeny důležité koncepty a rozdílné přístupy k analýze regionálních mocností a následně definována kritéria, na základě kterých byla v praktické části zjišťována odpověd na otázku, zda lze Turecko považovat za blízkovýchodní mocnost. Práce sleduje chronologický vývoj Turecka a jeho zahraniční politiky, přičemž zkoumá materiální kapacity země a strategie a nástroje, pomocí kterých se turecké vlády snaží na regionální úrovni prosazovat svůj vliv. S ohledem na rostoucí mocenský potenciál, ambice a angažovanost v regionu došla práce k závěru, že Turecko v průběhu devadesátých let dosáhlo postavení regionální mocnosti Blízkého východu. Konec bipolárního uspořádání mezinárodního systému byl faktorem, který Turecku umožnil ve světě autonomnější jednání. Díky hospodářskému růstu země pak mohlo turecké vedení zvýšit objem prostředků vynaložených na aktivní zahraniční politiku a posílit vliv země v regionu.
