Přístupy k členství Velké Británie v Evropské unii (1993-2016)

Abstract

Cílem diplomové práce "Přístupy k členství Velké Británie v Evropské unii (1993-2016)" je analyzovat jednotlivé teoretické a politické přístupy k členství Velké Británie v Evropské unii převážně po přijetí Maastrichtské smlouvy v roce 1993, a to za vlády konzervativního premiéra Johna Majora (1990 - 1997), labouristického premiéra Tonyho Blaira (1997 - 2005) a konzervativního premiéra Davida Camerona (2010 - 2016), za jehož předsednictví došlo v roce 2016 ke konání referenda o vystoupení Velké Británie z Evropské unie ("Brexit"). Spojené království se od počátku svého členství v Evropském společenství přiklánělo spíše k mezivládnímu přístupu a obávalo se přenesení pravomocí na nadnárodní orgány i federalizačních tendencí. Z důvodu velkého počtu přístupů a teorií, které se váží k evropské integraci, se práce bude detailněji věnovat teorii federalismu, vůči němuž se Velká Británie po celou dobu svého členství silně vymezovala. V kontextu přístupů k evropské integraci se dále zaměřím na model víceúrovňového vládnutí, který charakterizuje i současný politický systém v Británii. V minulosti byl britský politický systém postavený na tzv. Westminsterském modelu, avšak od 80. let 20. století se postupně proměnil na model víceúrovňového vládnutí. The aim of master's thesis "Attitudes to the UK membership in the European Union (1993- 2016)" is to analyse the individual theoretical and political attitudes towards the UK membership in the European Union. In particular, the thesis focuses on the period after the adoption of the Maastricht Treaty in 1993, during the governments of Conservative Prime Minister John Major (1990-1997), Labour Prime Minister Tony Blair (1997-2005) and Conservative Prime Minister David Cameron (2010-2016), who called a referendum on "Brexit" in 2016. Since the beginning of its membership in the EU, the United Kingdom has been more inclined towards an intergovernmental approach and worried about the delegation of power to supranational authorities as well as federalist tendencies. Due to the large number of approaches and theories related to the European integration, the thesis will focus in detail on federalism theory, to which the United Kingdom has always strongly defined itself, contrary to the model of multilevel governance that characterizes the current political system in Britain.
