KOMENTOVANÝ PŘEKLAD "The Book in the New Republic", 2. kap. (část) in Davidson, Cathy N., Revolution and the Word: The Rise of the Novel in America, Oxford Univ. Press 1988

Abstract

The topic of this bachelor thesis is a Czech translation of a part of a chapter from the book The Revolution and the Word: The Rise of the Novel in America by Cathy N. Davison published in the US by Oxford University Press in 1988. The translated chapter called The Book in the New Republic describes the book industry and the book culture in the US in the New Republic. The other part of this thesis is the commentary of the translation which covers the analysis of the original text, translation method and the typology of translation problems and shifts.

Tématem této bakalářské práce je překlad části kapitoly z knihy The Revolution and the Word: The Rise of the Novel in America, kterou napsala Cathy N. Davidson a která vyšla v roce 1988 v nakladatelství Oxford University Press ve Spojených státech. K překladu jsme vybrali část z druhé kapitoly s názvem The Book in the New Republic, jež se věnuje podobě knižního průmyslu a knižní kultury ve Spojených státech v období nové republiky. Druhou část práce tvoří komentář k překladu, v němž se zabýváme analýzou výchozího textu, metodou překladu a typologií posunů a překladatelských problémů.
