Akviziční strategie cizojazyčné literatury ve veřejných knihovnách: srovnávací studie

Abstract

Public libraries are facing a great challenge to succeed in serving their increasingly diverse communities. This thesis focuses on the acquisition of foreign-language books in public libraries and attempts to address the question whether libraries have special strategies to select and acquire foreign-language books. Particular attention is paid to fiction, the main genre offered by public libraries. To help answer the thesis question, the author compares the acquisition strategies of the Municipal Library of Prague and the Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin using structured interviews with the key persons responsible for the acquisition of foreign-language books. As a background, the author provides a literature review of foreign-language materials in public libraries and specifically, the acquisition strategy for those materials (i.e. including case studies, research projects and trends from the Czech Republic, the US, Canada, Australia, Sweden, Denmark and Netherlands). This knowledge foundation is considered in the comparison of the two libraries and their acquisition strategies. Diplomová práce se zabývá problematikou cizojazyčné literatury ve veřejných knihovnách, které čelí velké výzvě uspět se svými službami ve stále rozmanitější společnosti. Cílem práce je zjistit, zda mají veřejné knihovny speciální proces výběru a získávání cizojazyčné literatury do svých fondů. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována beletrii, stěžejnímu žánru veřejných knihoven. Předmětem této práce je komparace dvou akvizičních strategií cizojazyčné literatury, a to v Městské knihovně v Praze a v Zentral- und Landesbibliothek Berlin. Pro kvalitativní výzkum byly zvoleny strukturované rozhovory s klíčovými osobami akvizičního procesu v daných knihovnách. V rámci kompilátu je představena problematika cizojazyčné literatury ve veřejných knihovnách, zejména její akvizice. Představuje příklady dobré praxe, průzkumy a trendy, ze kterých autorka vychází při samotné komparaci, a to z České republiky i ze zahraničí, především z USA, Kanady, Austrálie, Švédska, Dánska a Holandska. Práce se zaměřuje mimo jiné na identifikaci komunity knihovny, uživatelské potřeby, zaměstnance, externí spolupráci, samotný výběr a získávání cizojazyčné literatury a na rozpočet na získávání cizojazyčné literatury.
