Friedrich Leitenberger

Abstract

Tato práce je pokusem o přiblížení osobnosti Friedricha Leitenbergera (1837-1899), velkopodnikatele, šlechtice, politika, mecenáše, muže dnes nepříliš známého, leč ve své době dosti významného. Nejprve je stručně představena rodina Leitenbergerů a počátky jejího podnikání v textilním průmyslu. Následně je již prostor dán Friedrichu Leitenbergerovi. V rámci jeho podnikatelského působení je pozornost věnována jak jeho vztahu vůči zaměstnancům, tak významným událostem v podniku, včetně účasti na světových výstavách. Právě v souvislosti s pařížskou, resp. vídeňskou světovou výstavou je pojednáno i o Leitenbergerově povýšení do stavu rytířského, resp. stavu svobodných pánů. Stranou badatelského zájmu nezůstala ani Leitenbergerova aktivita politická - jeho působení v Českém zemském sněmu a v Rakouské říšské radě - a činnost spolková. Velká pozornost je věnována jeho životu ve Vídni, kde spolu se svou ženou provozoval společenský salon, v němž se scházeli významní státníci a jím podporovaní umělci. Opominut nezůstal ani Leitenbergerův soukromý život. Na závěr je v krátkosti nastíněn i osud jeho potomků.

This work is an attempt to bring the personality of Friedrich Leitenberger (1837-1899), a great entrepreneur, a nobleman, a politician, a patron, a man not very well known today, but in his time quite significant. First, the history of the Leitenberger family and the beginnings of their business in the textile industry are briefly introduced. Subsequently, space is devoted to Friedrich Leitenberger. Within his business activities, attention is paid to both his relationship with employees and important events in the company, including his participation in world exhibitions. Especially in relation to the Paris and the Vienna International Exhibition, Leitenberger's promotion to the class of knights and class of barons is mentioned. The Leitenberger political activity - his activities in the Bohemian Diet and in the Austrian Imperial Council - and the associational activity became also an important part of the research interests. A great deal of attention is devoted to his life in Vienna, where he and his wife hosted a social salon where important statesmen and artists supported by him met. Leitenberger's private life was not left out. Finally, the fate of his offspring is briefly outlined.
