Život s Downovým syndromem dříve a nyní

Abstract

This bachelor thesis deals with the lives of people with Down syndrome earlier times and present. The aim of the theoretical part is to provide readers with basic information about Down's syndrome. The work describes levels of mental retardation and forms of Down syndrome. Attention is paid to organizations that help such affected people. Emphasis is placed on the treatment of this disability and on the possibilities of education of children and adults. The practical part includes qualitative research. The goal is to get informations directly from families and people affected by Down syndrome. The interviews were to find out the differences in the attitude of society towards these people in earlier times and present. Part of the work is two case studies to bring readers closer to people with Down syndrome.

Tato bakalářská práce pojednává o životě lidí s Downovým syndromem dříve a nyní. Cílem teoretické části je sdělit čtenáři základní informace o Downově syndromu. V práci jsou popsány stupně mentální retardace a formy Downova syndromu. Pozornost je věnována organizacím, které pomáhají takto postiženým lidem. Důraz je kladen na léčbu tohoto postižení a dále pak na možnosti vzdělávání dětí i dospělých. Praktická část obsahuje kvalitativní výzkum. Cílem je získat informace přímo od rodin a lidí postižených Downovým syndromem. Rozhovory měly zjistit rozdíly v postoji společnosti k těmto lidem v dřívější době a současnosti. Součástí práce jsou dvě případové studie, které mají čtenářům přiblížit život lidí s Downovým syndromem.
