Oriana Fallaci a její přístup k východní společnosti a islámu

Abstract

The thesis characterizes Oriana Fallaci's position towards Islam, Islamic culture and its society. The theoretical part consist of her biography and definitions of basic terms on this subject. The practical part pays attention to the research, where few selected passages from her work define her views and opinions. The practical part also briefly describes the context in which the Czech media wrote about Fallaci. Research has revealed that Fallaci is not a critic of the Islam but rather an advocate for values, like a democracy, freedom, critical thinking, and women's equality, that Islam often suppresses. Fallaci has been quoted in Czech media, however, her views and ideas were presented only on the surface, while the text translation contains many errors and conceptual mistakes.

Práce definuje postoj Oriany Fallaciové k islámskému náboženství, kultuře a společnosti. Teoretická část obsahuje její životopis a definice základních pojmů této problematiky. Praktická část se věnuje výzkumu. Z jejího díla byly vybrány pasáže, na základě kterých je možné definovat její postoje. V praktické části je rovněž stručně popsáno, do jaké míry a v jakých souvislostech o Fallaciové psala česká média. Výzkum odhalil, že Fallaciová není kritičkou islámu, ale spíše zastánkyní hodnot jako demokracie, svoboda, kritické myšlení a rovnoprávnost žen, které islám v jistých případech potlačuje. Fallaciová byla v českých médiích několikrát citována, její myšlenky však byly prezentovány jen povrchně, v textech se navíc vyskytují překladatelské chyby.
