Teoretická část se zabývá umíráním, smrtí, komunikačními dovednostmi sester, jejich názory na sdělování pravdy o závažnosti zdravotního stavu pacientům, bolestí a přístupu sester k umírajícím pacientům a jejich blízkým. Praktická část se zabývá problematikou přístupu sester k péči o umírající pacienty a zjišťuje a srovnává, zda jsou nějaké rozdíly v přístupu k péči o umírající na oddělení JIP a interním oddělení. Všeobecné sestry zde popisují, jaké obtíže pociťují při ošetřování umírajících pacientů, jak se chovají k jejich nejbližším, co by ony samy v péči o umírající změnily. Jak se samy vyrovnávají s umíráním a smrtí, zda mají obavy z vlastní smrti a zda už někdy přemýšlely o tom, jak by jednou chtěly zemřít.

The theoretical part covers passing away, death, communication skills of nurses, their opinions on telling patients the truth about their health state, pain and approach of nurses towards terminally ill patients and their relatives. The practical part deals with the approach of nurses in taking a care for dying patients and identifies and compares whether there are any differences in the way of the care for dying at the intensive care unit and department of internal medicine. Nurses here describe the difficulties they feel in treating dying patients, how they behave towards their relatives, what they would like to change in the care for the dying.
