Key words: Šumava, aesthetics of forest, relationship to nature, disintegration of forest, symbolic dimension of forestV prostoru Národního parku Šumava došlo v posledních letech k několika kůrovcovým kalamitám, které měly za následek rozsáhlý spor o podobu managementu v chráněných oblastech s celospolečenským dopadem. Podoba šumavských lesů se v postižených místech změnila, což zapříčilo rozsáhlou diskuzi, která se týkala mimo jiné toho, do jaké míry by se měl člověk v zákonem chráněném území projevovat a zároveň otevřela otázku, jaká podoba lesa je z estetického hlediska v současné době "žádoucí". Rozhodla jsem se prostřednictvím kvalitativní strategie výzkumu zjistit, jaký vztah mají k přírodě, kteří se zapojili do diskuze kolem národního parku Šumava a jakým způsobem ji vnímají, se zvláštním přihlédnutím k lesu. Zajímalo mě, jakým způsobem se vztahují k symbolické dimenzi lesa, která je v otázce jeho vnímání klíčová a v jakých rámcích se pohybují, pokud uvažují o tom, jaká podoba managementu by podle nich měla v chráněných lokalitách provádět. In space of National Park of Šumava happened in last years several bark beetle calamities, in result of it came extensive disputes about form of management in protected areas with society-wide impact. The shape of forests in Šumava in strickened places had changed and caused extensive discussion, which, besides other things, bear on human behavior and at the same time opened up the question, which form of forest is required in the present days . I decided through of qualitative strategy of research to discover the realtion to the nature of those, which took a part in discussion about National Park of Šumava and how they percieve it taking it into consideration of forest. I was interested in their relationship to symbolic dimension of forest, which question is pivotal in perception of forest and which form of management in protected areas they prefer.
