Krize francouzského konceptu laïcité?

Abstract

Master thesis "The Crisis of French concept of laïcité" ponders the current status of laïcité in the atmosphere of contemporary France. General feeling in French society is characterized by a negative attitude of ethnic Frenchmen towards the growing presence of Islam which is accentuated by growing Muslim's demands in economic and social fields. Main goal of this thesis is to prove that the contemporary state of the concept of laïcité can be perceived as a crisis which comes through the differences between perceptions of principles based on laïcité. This notion will be proved on the basis of the theory of social constructionism complemented by the two-way-protection theory which deals with relations between state and churches. The hypothesis anticipates that Muslims, Catholics, Non- believers and even the State are using principles of laïcité depending on actual situation and impact of different actors and in order to ensure their own interests. Thereby they create the concept laïcité as a social construct. The main field in which the thesis proves this hypothesis is the French school system which is crucial for forming and maintaining the Republic and its values. Diplomová práce "Krize francouzského konceptu laïcité?" se zabývá situací konceptu laïcité v atmosféře současné Francie. Ta je charakteristická odmítavým postojem většiny Francouzů vůči stále výraznější přítomnosti islámu, která je dána zejména rostoucími požadavky francouzských muslimů. Práce si klade za cíl dokázat, že současný stav konceptu laïcité je možné vnímat jako krizi, která se projevuje na základě rozdílného vnímání jím stanovených principů. Tento cíl práce bude dokazován na základě teorie sociálního konstruktivismu ve spojení s teorií two-way protection, který se zabývá vztahy mezi státem a církvemi. Hypotéza práce předjímá, že muslimové, katolíci, nevěřící i stát vnímají stanovené principy odlišně, a to v závislosti na aktuální situaci a na působení rozdílných aktérů a v rámci snahy o svůj prospěch. Tím vytváří z konceptu laïcité sociální konstrukt. Oblastí, ve které danou hypotézu práce dokazuje, je francouzské školství, které hraje v utváření a udržování Republiky a jejích hodnot klíčovou roli. Konkrétními příklady, na kterých práce hypotézu dokazuje, je pak přijetí některých legislativních kroků ze strany francouzského státu, a to zákona zakazujícího nošení ostentativních náboženských symbolů ve veřejných školách, přijetí Charty laïcité ve školách a tzv. aféra Baby-Loup.
