Islamofobie a český veřejný prostor. Recepce aféry karikatur a vraždy Theo van Gogha

Abstract

V teoretické části student vymezí pojem islamofobie na základě zahraniční i české odborné literatury. Východiskem mu bude mimo jiné koncept "nové xenofobie" Pavla Barši a také komparace mezi historickým antisemitismem a současnou islamofobií u Mattiho Bunzla, zároveň bude reflektovat i argumentaci kritiků konceptu, jak ji prezentoval Robin Richardson. Následovat bude diskurzivní analýza dvou českých zdrojů: internetového portálu Eurabia, který je hlavním českým představitelem islamofobní rétoriky, a předního deníku MF Dnes. Bude sledovat způsoby, jakými tématizují tzv. aféru karikatur, použité charakteristiky a výrazové prostředky. Zároveň bude své analýzy konfrontovat s obecnějšími otázkami vycházejícími z dialogu s teoretickou konceptualizací islamofobie: Můžeme v případě analyzovaných zdrojů mluvit o islamofobní rétorice? Spadá skutečně do vymezení "nové xenofobie", nebo je pouze pokračovatelkou xenofobie "staré"?

In the theoretical part of the thesis student will define the concept of Islamophobia on the basis of foreign and Czech literature. His starting point will be, inter alia, Pavel Barša's concept of the "new xenophobia" as well as a comparison between the historical anti-Semitism and contemporary Islamophobia by Matti Bunzl at the same time reflecting the arguments of critics of the concept, as they were presented by Robin Richardson. Following will be a discursive analysis of two Czech media resources: webportal Eurabia, which is the main representative of the Czech Islamophobic rhetoric and a leading newspaper Mladá Fronta Dnes. The analysis will monitor the ways in which the Mohamed cartoons controversy was thematized, applied characteristics and means of expression. At the same time the author will confront his analysis to more general issues stemming from the dialogue with theoretical conceptualizations of Islamophobia: Can we define the analyzed sources' language as Islamophobic? Does Islamophobia actually falls into the definition of "new xenophobia", or is it only a successor of "old" xenophobia?
