Difficulties of an Adult Student in Learning and Remembering Vocabulary

Abstract

Tato bakalářská práce má za cíl najít co nejefektivnější postupy a aktivity ve výuce anglické slovní zásoby pro dospělého studenta, který má problémy se studiem a zapamatováním si nových slov. Výzkum je založen na teoretické části práce, ve které se zabýváme všeobecnými otázkami výuky slovní zásoby, paměťovými procesy a různými přístupy, metodami, strategiemi, technikami a aktivitami používanými ve výuce anglické slovní zásoby. Zvláštní důraz je kladen na paměťové techniky. Praktická část této studie vychází z charakteristiky studentova inteligenčního typu a zabývá se jednotlivými aktivitami použitými ve výuce a jejich efektivitou.

This bachelor's thesis is intended to search for the most efficient methods, strategies, techniques and activities in learning and teaching English vocabulary regarding an adult student with difficulties in learning and remembering English vocabulary. The research is founded on theoretical part which deals with general questions of learning vocabulary, processes of remembering words and various approaches, methods, strategies and activities, with special focus on memorization. Practical part of this thesis is based on the student's characterization according to his multiple intelligence type. The research examines various techniques and activities which were used in lessons and their effects on the student's success in remembering words.
