Masaryk) analyses Masaryk's religious, philosophical and political opinions and chapter three (C^ech Catholic Modernism) presents the assembly of Catholic Modernism, its aims, personalities and leading representatives' views. The crux of the dissertation is the comprehensive chapter four (T. G. Masaryk and Catholic Modernism) which brings in the actual synthesis of the relationship of T. G. Masaryk and Catholic Modernism, their mutual association and struggle at the turn of the 20th century. In this chapter I analyse the decline of the church and the reasons for it, politicization of the catholic movement, Masaryk's interest in Catholic Modernism, agreements and disagreements between the two parties, the personalities of J. S. Machar, K. Dostal-Lutinov and S. Bouska and extensive affairs which occurred in this period (Rieger's affair, Chaplains' affair, Kohn's affair, Juda's affair and suchlike). The last chapter (Conclusion) sums up the points of disagreement and the level of discrepancy between T. G. Masaryk and Catholic Modernism. Powered by TCPDF (www.tcpdf.org)
