Představení základních pojmů a problémů oboru "Surveillance Studies" (podle Davida Lyona)

Abstract

The main aim of this diploma thesis is to articulate the basic problems and terms of the "Surveillance Studies". The grounds of the discipline are described in eight subchapters according to one of the founders of the discipline prof. David Lyon. Gradual formation and development of the surveillance and the surveillance society, relationships between surveillance and modernity, Foucault's conception of panoptism and Orwell's Big Brother are outlined in this point. Later on are specific terms of "Surveillance Studies" explained and applied on real cases of the systems of surveillance. The application of the terms on the real cases should prove the hypothesis, that actual shape of the theory of surveillance is no more sufficient.

Hlavním cílem této diplomové práce je vyložit základní problémy a pojmy oboru "Surveillance Studies". V osmi podkapitolách jsou základy tohoto oboru popsány podle díla jednoho ze zakladatelů oboru prof. Davida Lyona. Je zde načrtnut postupný vznik a vývoj dohledu a společnosti dohledu, vztah dohledu k modernitě, k Foucaultově koncepci panoptismu a k Orwellovu Velkému Bratrovi. Následně jsou vyloženy specifické pojmy pro "Surveillance Studies", které jsou ve čtvrté kapitole uplatněny na konkrétních případech systémů dohledu. Aplikace těchto pojmů na konkrétních příkladech má ověřit hypotézu, že současná podoba teorie dohledu je již nedostačující.
