Práce charakterizuje rané myšlení Michela Foucaulta, v němž převládá tzv. archeologická metoda, jakožto "transcendentální historismus". Úkolem práce je mimo jiné zdůvodnit volbu tohoto označení a tím i obsah obou pojmů. Prostřednictvím tří zjednodušených modelů se práce pokouší prezentovat archeologii v té podobě, v jaké utváří metodologické pozadí prvních tří velkých Foucaultových prací - Dějin šílenství, Zrození kliniky a Slov a věcí, přičemž však výchozím textem zůstává Foucaultova kniha Archeologie vědění. Na základě archeologické koncepce diskursu se rýsuje Foucaultovo pojetí transcendentálního, pro něž bude nakonec klíčový protiklad mezi vlastní archeologií na jedné straně a tím, co Foucault označuje jako "doxologii" na straně druhé. Pojem"historického" je vysvětlován na protikladu mezi koncepcí tzv. spojitých či kontinuálních dějin a pojetí dějin diskontinuálních, které prosazuje Foucault.
This doctoral thesis describes Michel Foucault's early thought dominated by so-called archeological method as "transcendental historicism", aiming among other things to give reasons for using this denotation, and thus also to explain the meaning of both concepts.
