Situace romštiny v České republice

Abstract

Tato práce se zaměřuje na současnou jazykovou situaci severocentrálních dialektů romštiny v ČR. Shrnuje některá zjištění ze sociolingvistických výzkumů jazykové situace romštiny, které prováděl Seminář romistiky FF UK v letech 2007-2009. Tyto informace rozšiřuje o nové analýzy a úvahy a zařazuje je do kontextu poválečných dějin Romů a romštiny v českých zemích a do souvislostí zformulovaných v dosavadních podobně zaměřených výzkumech. První část práce podává stručný úvod do poválečných dějin Romů, druhá část je věnována vývoji jazykové situace romštiny od roku 1945, třetí část shrnuje různé odhady počtu mluvčích romštiny v ČR. Další části práce jsou věnovány podrobnému popisu metodologie, která byla použita v rámci výše uvedených sociolingvistických výzkumů pro zjištění současné úrovně kompetence v romštině mezi dětmi na prvním a druhém stupni základních škol. Následuje analýza zjištěných dat s ohledem na limity popsané metody a na různé korelace, které by mohly ozřejmit jazykovou situaci romštiny v současnosti. Výsledky sociolingvistických výzkumů ukazují, že v nejmladší generaci Romů je asi jedna třetina lidí s aktivní znalostí romštiny. Vzhledem ke změnám, kterými Romové a romská kultura prošli v poválečném období zejména v české části bývalého Československa, se tento odhad jeví jako překvapivě vysoký....

The thesis focuses on the current situation of the so-called North Central dialects of Romani in the Czech Republic. It summarizes the findings of a recent sociolinguistic research of the language situation of Romani carried out by the Seminar of Romani Studies (Charles University, Faculty of Arts) in 2007-2009. The thesis adds some new analyses and interpretations of the collected data and achieved findings. The opening parts of the thesis describe the historical context of post-war Czechoslovakia and its influences on the situation of the Romani language as depicted in historical, sociological, sociolinguistic and other studies. The following parts cover the methodology used in the recent sociolinguistic research on the competence in Romani in the young generation of Roma and analyse the data from the perspective of the limits of the methodology, and present some correlations relevant to the current situation of Romani. The results of the current sociociolinguistic research reveal that in the youngest generation of Roma in the Czech Republic there is approximately one third of people with an active competence in Romani. In view of the changes that affected Roma and the Romani culture in post-war period especially in the Czech part of the former Czechoslovakia, this estimate seems to be surprisingly high....
