Abstract

Tato pnice rna dye vrstvy argumentace. lednou z nichje hledanipovahy rodoveho v literamim deni 19. a pocatku 20 stoleti, hledani, ktere je v nlznych literamich situacich soustredene na tvorbu nekolika literatek. Prvni z nich je Elizabeth Barrett Browningova, jejiz dHo znamenalo v angloamerickem svete poloviny 19. stoleti spojity rodove kultumi a literami prelom. Vykladu tohoto prelomu, ktery koncepce literarnich historii vetSinou zastiraji, je za pomoci recepcni teorie venovana 1. kapitola prace. Druha kapitola meni perspektivu pohledu na dilo Browningove z angloamericke na ceskou. Odhaluje intenzivni cesky zivot Browningove na pocatku 20. stoleti, jehoz dUlezitou, formativni soucast predstavuji ceske preklady jejich Sonetu portugalsJeYch (A. Klastersky, 1908, a F. Balej, 1919) a "romanove" poemy Aurora Leigh (F. Balej, 1911). V druhe kapitole prace vznika druha, pnlbezna linie argumentace prace, v niz je pfekladovost ve smyslu prekladu textu a v sirsim smyslu zpracovavani vlivu zkoumana jako zasadni kulturotvorny fenomen. Ceska modemisticka recepce dila Browningove je velmi odlisna od viktorianske, sledovane v 1. kapitole. The dissertation combines two threads of argumentation. One is represented by the exploration of the gender dynamic in several literary situations of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The gender dynamic comprises, in the case of this research, notions of mutuality and interrelatedness of men's and women's cultural values; the always present, but historically changing reality of gender norms in society and culture, and in literature itself; the ways in which individuals cope with these norms. Especially the need to demolish the norms on the side of creative women and their eventual literary achievements are focused by single chapters of the dissertation. The first one rethinks the work of Elizabeth Barrett Browning and ~xplains why it meant a major gendered cultural and literary tum in the English-speaking world in (roughly) mid-19th century. Barrett-Browning's literary accomplishment winning immediate recognition - which has been largely veiled or dismissed by ideologies of 20th century literary histories - is explicated with the help of concepts of the reception theory developed by Hans Robert Jauss. The second chapter switches its focus from the contexts of Barrett-Browning's life and work and her primary reception to her later Czech reception.
