Fylogenomické analýzy konzistentně odhalily čtyři hluboce divergentní a dobře podpořené evoluční linie odpovídající západní Africe (Angola a Namibie), severnímu Malawi, jižnímu Malawi s Tanzanií a Madagaskaru. Analýzy populační struktury značně potvrdily stejné geografické rozdělení, ačkoli odhadovaný počet genetických klastrů se mezi jednotlivými analýzami mírně lišil. Tyto...
5 Abstract Mygalomorph spiders are generally characterised by sedentary lifestyles, limited dispersal capabilities, and deep population structuring, making them ideal models for biogeographic studies. However, the influence of a species' behavioural niche, specifically, opportunistic versus obligate burrowing lifestyles, on dispersal and genetic connectivity remains underexplored. This thesis investigates the evolutionary history, phylogeography, and species boundaries of the opportunistic curtain-web spider genus Thelechoris (Araneae: Ischnothelidae), distributed across sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar. A total of 59 specimens collected from 13 localities in Angola, Namibia, Malawi, Tanzania (Pemba Island), and Madagascar were analysed using the 3RAD sequencing approach. Phylogenomic relationships were reconstructed in IQ-TREE using maximum likelihood analyses and population structure was assessed using both fastStructure and Structure based on unlinked SNP datasets. Phylogenomic analyses consistently recovered four deeply divergent, well-supported evolutionary lineages corresponding to western Africa (Angola and Namibia), northern Malawi, southern Malawi with Tanzania, and Madagascar. Population structure analyses largely supported the same geographic partitioning, although the inferred number of genetic...
