This master's thesis focuses on the semantic transparency of Czech prefixed verbs of motion from the perspective of native Ukrainian speakers with no prior knowledge of Czech. The aim of the thesis is to describe how these speakers interpret the meanings of Czech verbs of motion on the basis of visual stimuli and the linguistic form of the word, and to identify systematic interpretive strategies and interference patterns arising from their native language. The research examines the process of cross-linguistic semantic mapping and is based on the results of an elicitation study. The methodological design separates the influence of visual stimuli from that of linguistic form so that the research is not reduced to a simple picture-based translation test. The findings indicate that the most transparent Czech prefixes are those that correspond formally and semantically to Ukrainian prefixes, and this correspondence is reflected in participants' interpretations of Czech prefixed verbs of motion. By contrast, systematic deviations occurred most frequently with Czech verbs containing less transparent prefixes, often giving rise to interference from Ukrainian. The outcome of the thesis is a corpus of responses collected in the elicitation study, organized according to the types of deviations observed...
