This bachelor's thesis focuses on the development of Karel Václav Rais's prose between 1883 and 1893 and analyses the aesthetic turning point between his didactic, historicist works and his realist works. The aim of the thesis is to ascertain how, during this period, the authority of the narrator-mentor was transformed into that of an empirical observer, and how this transformation was reflected in the relationship with the implied reader. The introductory theoretical section defines key narratological categories, in particular the issues of narrative authority, focalisation and the neutralisation of speech acts. This is followed by a chronological analysis of selected short stories, which traces the shift from idealised historical texts to a harsh depiction of rural reality. The methodological approach combines the literary-historical context with the application of modern narratology. The results show that the fundamental change lies not only in a thematic shift, but in the abandonment of didactic commentary in favour of the characters' authentic experiences. The conclusion of the thesis summarises this aesthetic 'seam'.
