This bachelor's thesis examines the media representation of Empress Elisabeth of Austria (1837-1898) throughout the 20th and 21st centuries. It analyzes the evolution of her image across various historical and cultural periods and explores the tension between historical reality and the gradually constructed myth. It focuses primarily on the representation of Elisabeth in audiovisual works and on the ways in which individual films and series reinterpret the character of Sissi depending on the historical, cultural, and ideological context. The first part of the thesis defines the factual framework of the historical figure, which serves as a necessary contrast to later artistic interpretations. The second part focuses on the evolution of media portrayals in audiovisual works, ranging from idealized postwar films to contemporary feminist-oriented productions. The analysis reflects the transformation of the empress's image from a symbol of nostalgia and monarchist beauty to an archetype of the modern woman. The research is based on narrative analysis focused on storytelling and the construction of meaning, rather than on verifying the historical accuracy of individual works. On this basis, it examines why this historical figure represents an attractive and relevant topic for contemporary creators....
