Tato diplomová práce se zabývá mediální reprezentací regionů globálního Jihu v hlavních zpravodajských relacích třech nejsledovanějších českých televizních stanic (Česká televize, Nova a Prima). Hlavním cílem práce je zanalyzovat tematické zaměření, délku, tonalitu a pořadí reportáží věnovaných regionům globálního Jihu a porovnat jejich procentuální zastoupení s regiony globálního Severu. Teoretická část práce diskutuje trendy ve světových i českých médiích a představuje mediální obraz jednotlivých regionů v globálním i českém prostředí. Empirická část vychází z kvantitativní a kvalitativní obsahové analýzy 3000 zpravodajských příspěvků odvysílaných v roce 2025. Výsledky výzkumu potvrzují výraznou podreprezentovanost globálního Jihu, který tvořil pouze 7,20 % celkového zpravodajství, zatímco globální Sever dominoval zbylými 92,80 %. Analýza dále odhalila u globálního Jihu převahu spíše negativních témat, zejména lidmi způsobených nehod a válek (35,19 %), a minimální zastoupení zpráv o běžném životě či životním prostředí a přírodě. This thesis examines the media representation of regions in the Global South in the main news programs of the three most-watched Czech television stations (Česká televize, Nova, and Prima). The main objective of the thesis is to analyze the thematic focus, length, tone, and order of reports devoted to regions of the Global South and to compare their percentage representation with that of regions of the Global North. The theoretical part of the thesis discusses trends in global and Czech media and presents the media image of individual regions in both the global and Czech contexts. The empirical part is based on a quantitative and qualitative content analysis of 3000 news reports broadcast in 2025. The research results confirm the considerable underrepresentation of the Global South, which accounted for only 7.20 % of total news coverage, while the Global North dominated the remaining 92.80 %. The analysis further revealed a predominance of largely negative topics in the Global South, particularly man-made disasters and wars (35.19 %), and minimal coverage of everyday life, the environment, and nature. The study also identifies specific regional narratives, such as the framing of the Middle East and North Africa region as an area of conflict, the portrayal of China as a strategic and technological...
