This bachelor's thesis examines the phenomenon of women's gyms from the perspective of the sociology of gender, the body, and space. The aim of the thesis is to understand how women explain their choice to use women's gyms and how these spaces influence their experience of exercise and their perception of their own bodies. The research was conducted using qualitative research methods in the form of semi- structured interviews with female participants aged 18-26 who regularly attend women-only gyms. The results of the analysis indicate that participants perceive women-only gyms as a safe and less judgmental environment compared to mixed gyms, which allows them to feel more like themselves in this space and to focus their attention better on the exercise activity itself. At the same time, however, the analysis reveals that gendered aspects of the space do not completely disappear in women-only gyms. This study thus contributes to the discussion on the gendered nature of fitness spaces and demonstrates how the environment influences women's experiences and their identity.
