Následuje metodologická kapitola shrnující teoretické přístupy k historické víceja- zyčnosti a vymezující analytické nástroje uplatněné v práci. Jádro disertace tvoří analýza devíti typů vícejazyčných tisků, zahrnují- cích mimo jiné učebnice, katechismy, mravně naučné spisy, příležitostnou poezii (epithalamia a epicedia), žalmové parafráze, makaronské texty i na- učnou literaturu.
The thesis examines Latin-vernacular (so-called vertical) multilingualism in Bohemian prints of the pre-White Mountain period, specifically between 1550 and 1620, when the literary field of the Prague university was firmly established. Drawing on extensive primary research, its aim is to provide a record of such prints, propose a typology of their forms, and analyse the functional relationships between their Latin and vernacular components. Following an introduction that defines the research topic and surveys pre- vious scholarship, the study situates the material within the broader historical and cultural context of the Czech lands before 1620, with particular attention to the linguistic composition of the population, the system of Latin schools, and the development of the book market as key factors shaping the produ- ction under investigation. A subsequent methodological chapter outlines theoretical approaches to historical multilingualism and defines the analytical tools employed in the dissertation. The core of the study consists of an analysis of nine types of multilingual prints, including textbooks, catechisms, moral-didactic treatises, occasional poetry (epithalamia and epicedia), psalm paraphrases, macaronic texts, and works of learned literature. The analysis focuses primarily on the...
