Studenti technických oborů vykazují vyšší míru zapojení než studenti humanitních a ekonomických oborů, což...
This thesis analyses the factors that influence university students' participation in esports, particularly in terms of socioeconomic status, field of study, motivations, barriers, and gaming capital. Esports is understood here as a dynamically evolving social field in which technological, cultural, and social structures overlap and where inequalities in access and opportunities for participation are clearly evident. The theoretical framework of this study is Pierre Bourdieu's conceptual apparatus, which allows for the interpretation of the relationships between economic, social, cultural, and gaming capital and their influence on player behaviour. The aim of this study is to identify the factors that most influence the intensity of competitive gaming and how social inequalities associated with participation in esports are reproduced in the university environment. The research was conducted as a quantitative questionnaire survey among students at Czech universities. The data were analysed using factor analysis, t-tests, ANOVA, MANOVA, and multivariate linear regression. The results show that socioeconomic status influences the intensity of gaming primarily through technical capital, while socioeconomic status itself has no significant effect without this mediation. Students in technical fields...
