Vnímání stigmatizace a jejího dopadu na identitu vysokoškolských studentů užívajících marihuanu

Abstract

This bachelor's thesis examines the issue of social stigmatization and self-stigmatization among college students who use marijuana. The aim of the thesis is to identify manifestations of stigmatization and analyze how these experiences influence the formation of students' identities. The theoretical section is based on Goffman's concept of stigmatization and Howard S. Becker's labeling theory. It further focuses on the specifics of stigmatization of drug users and the social and cultural context of marijuana use. The research was conducted using qualitative methods. Specifically, nine semi-structured interviews were conducted with college students who use marijuana. The results showed that despite growing social tolerance, stigma toward marijuana users persists. It most often manifests as perceived and anticipated stigma, leading to the concealment of use or its sharing only within safe social circles. Direct experiences with stigmatization occur less frequently and tend to take an indirect form, such as innuendo or humor. Self-stigmatization was not significantly evident among most respondents. The results also indicate that experiences with stigmatization are strongly dependent on the social context.

Tato bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou sociální stigmatizace a sebestigmatizace u vysokoškolských studentů, kteří užívají marihuanu. Cílem práce je identifikovat projevy stigmatizace a analyzovat, jak se tyto zkušenosti promítají do utváření identity studentů. Teoretická část vychází z konceptu stigmatizace podle Goffmana a teorie nálepkování Howarda S. Beckera. Dále se zaměřuje na specifika stigmatizace uživatelů drog a sociální a kulturní kontext užívání marihuany. Výzkum byl realizován skrze kvalitativní výzkum Konkrétně bylo provedeno devět polostrukturovaných rozhovorů se studenty vysokých škol užívajících marihuanu. Výsledky ukázaly, že i přes rostoucí společenskou toleranci stigma vůči uživatelům marihuany stále přetrvává. Nejčastěji se projevuje ve formě vnímaného a očekávaného stigmatu, které vede ke skrývání užívání nebo jeho sdílení pouze v bezpečných sociálních kruzích. Přímé zkušenosti se stigmatizací se objevují méně často a mají spíše nepřímou podobu například ve formě narážek nebo humoru. Sebestigmatizace se u většiny respondentů výrazně neprojevila. Výsledky zároveň ukazují, že zkušenosti se stigmatizací jsou silně závislé na sociálním kontextu.
