Život s nálepkou a za nálepkou: Identity a taktiky přežití lidí bez domova užívajících alkohol

Abstract

This thesis examines the processes of social exclusion and the construction of identity among homeless individuals who use alcohol. The research is grounded in a qualitative paradigm and constructivist epistemology; the primary data collection method consists of three narrative interviews, which are analyzed as in-depth case studies. I utilize theories of labeling, stigma, moral career, and symbolic violence as analytical tools, drawing inspiration from trauma-informed and anti-oppressive approaches. The aim of the research was to explore processes of social exclusion/inclusion through the narratives of people living without a home and to describe the tactics that help them maintain their human dignity despite a hostile environment. The research examined two interconnected levels of existential geographies: the trajectory leading from the past to the present, and the everyday life lived in the present. The results indicate that alcohol is not the primary cause of homelessness, but rather acts as a means of adaptation to past traumas or the extreme conditions of the street. Interviewees employ specific tactics of distinction and invisibility to distance themselves from the devaluing labels of "homeless person" or "alcoholic." Diplomová práce zkoumá procesy sociální exkluze a konstrukci identity lidí žijících bez domova užívajících alkohol. Výzkum je ukotven v kvalitativním paradigmatu a konstruktivistické epistemologii, základní metodou tvorby dat jsou tři narativní rozhovory, které jsou zpracovány formou hloubkových případových studií. Využívám teorie nálepkování, stigmatu, morální kariéry a symbolického násilí jako analytických nástrojů, inspirována trauma-respektujícími a antiopresivními přístupy. Cílem výzkumu bylo skrze vyprávění lidí žijících bez domova prozkoumat procesy sociální exkluze/inkluze a popsat taktiky, které jim pomáhají udržet si lidskou důstojnost navzdory hostilnímu prostředí. Výzkum sledoval dvě propojené roviny existenciálních geografií: trajektorii směřující od minulosti do přítomnosti a v současnosti žitou každodennost. Z výsledků vyplývá, že alkohol není primární příčinou bezdomovectví, nýbrž působí jako prostředek adaptace na prožitá traumata či extrémní podmínky ulice. Komunikační partneři využívají specifické taktiky distinkce a neviditelnosti, aby se vymezili vůči devalvujícím nálepkám bezdomovec nebo alkoholik.
