Zkoumání divácké percepce seriálu "Adolescence"

Abstract

This thesis focuses on researching Czech viewers' perceptions of the British limited series Adolescence. The series follows the story of 13-year-old Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering a classmate, across four episodes filmed in a single uninterrupted take. The series explores themes of toxic masculinity, the influence of the manosphere on adolescent boys, cyberbullying, and the breakdown of intergenerational communication. The aim of this thesis is to analyze how Czech viewers of different ages and genders interpret these themes and to what extent their sociocultural backgrounds and personal experiences shape the way they decode the series. The theoretical part of the thesis draws on Hall's theory of encoding and decoding, Raewyn Connell's concept of hegemonic masculinity, approaches from feminist media studies, and research on the influence of social media on adolescent identity. The theoretical part also includes an analytical characterization of the series as a limited series genre and an analysis of its audiovisual characteristics. Tato diplomová práce se zaměřuje na výzkum divácké percepce britské limitované série Adolescence českými diváky a divačkami. Seriál sleduje příběh třináctiletého Jamieho Millera obviněného z vraždy spolužačky a prostřednictvím čtyř epizod zachycených na jeden nepřerušovaný záběr. Seriál rozkrývá témata toxické maskulinity, vlivu manosféry na dospívající chlapce, kyberšikany a selhání mezigenerační komunikace. Cílem práce je analyzovat, jak čeští diváci různého věku a genderu tato témata interpretují a do jaké míry jejich sociokulturní zázemí a osobní zkušenosti formují způsob, jakým seriál dekódují. Teoretická část práce vychází z Hallovy teorie kódování a dekódování, konceptu hegemonní maskulinity Raewyn Connell, přístupů feministických mediálních studií a výzkumů věnovaných vlivu sociálních médií na identitu dospívajících. Součástí teoretické části je rovněž analytická charakteristika seriálu jako žánru limitované série a rozbor jeho audiovizuálních specifik. Výzkum byl realizován metodou kvalitativních polostrukturovaných rozhovorů s deseti respondenty. Za nejdůležitější témata označují sledující vliv online prostředí a manosféry na dospívající chlapce a absenci otevřené komunikace v rodině.
