Bratr Vavřinec od Vzkříšení a motiv Boží přítomnosti v současné spiritualitě

Abstract

This thesis deals with the spirituality of Brother Lawrence of the Resurrection (1614-1691) and its central motif of the conscious experience of the presence of God. The aim of the thesis is to analyze this motif in his spiritual teaching and to demonstrate its significance for contemporary Christian spirituality. The thesis is based primarily on the work The Practice of the Presence of God, which consists of a collection of Lawrence's letters, conversations, and spiritual maxims. First, his teaching is situated within its historical and theological context; subsequently, his understanding of the presence of God and its realization in everyday life is analyzed. The motif is then examined in selected contemporary authors of Christian spirituality, namely Jan Šedivý, Laurence Freeman and Thomas Keating, and with attention to their common features as well as their specific emphases. Finally, the thesis reflects on the contemporary relevance of Lawrence's spirituality and its contribution to the integration of faith, prayer, and everyday life in the present context.

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá spiritualitou bratra Vavřince od Vzkříšení (1614-1691) a jejím ústředním motivem vědomého prožívání Boží přítomnosti. Cílem práce je analyzovat tento motiv v jeho duchovní nauce a ukázat jeho význam pro současnou křesťanskou spiritualitu. Práce vychází především z díla Praxe Boží přítomnosti, které obsahuje soubor Vavřincových dopisů, rozhovorů a duchovních zásad. Nejprve je jeho učení zasazeno do historického a teologického kontextu, poté je analyzováno jeho pojetí Boží přítomnosti a její uskutečňování v každodenním životě. Následně je tento motiv sledován u vybraných současných autorů, konkrétně u Jana Šedivého, Laurence Freemana a Thomase Keatinga, se zaměřením na jejich společné rysy i specifické důrazy. Závěrem práce reflektuje aktuálnost Vavřincovy spirituality a její přínos pro propojení víry, modlitby a každodenního života v současném kontextu.
